Can I locate my apple watch 2 by find my iphone as GPS in now built-in?

Hi friends,

I have an autistic brother and as a family we have been through various gps tracking watches in case of a wondering event. Looking at the new apple watch 2 it seems to fit most of the required specifications, being waterproof for swimming is great and the design blends in with the crowd so to speak. The big point is about if the apple watch 2 is lost/stolen can this be tracked live by find my iphone or blocked to stop in an event of a theft?

Potentially, yes.

If Find My iPhone was enabled beforehand, Apple Watch Series 2 can use a trusted Wi-Fi connection, if one is available to it, along with GPS to show you its approximate location.

Placing the watch into Lost Mode can prevent anyone who has the watch from turning off Find My iPhone, erasing the watch or pairing it with another iPhone:
